Weird History
During my time at Ranker.com, I created the Facebook brand Weird History. Weird History specialized in wrapping clickbait-style framing around the most unexpected and bizarre stories from our past - I pitched the page as History Channel meets Gawker.
My role in creating this brand was to set the tone and editorial guidelines, write and design every single headline and thumbnail that the page published, lead pitch meetings and data reviews, and in general direct the voice of the page to an extremely wide audience in a profitable way.
The page was an almost immediate success, and quickly grew to lead all of Ranker’s social media properties in nearly every meaningful metric (all of these numbers are from the last 30 days I worked at Ranker):
• Follower count: 3,858,000 (currently it hovers around 5,000,000)
• Total average clicks per post: 9,500 (triple the Ranker average)
• Total organic clicks: 6,100,000 (203,000 visits per day average)
(These numbers are over 50% higher than Ranker's next biggest channel, and 3 times the Ranker channel itself)
• Total paid clicks: 13,050,000 on $231,000 spend (about $74 revenue per post)
(These numbers are twice Ranker's next biggest channel, and 6 times the Ranker channel itself)
• Average revenue generated: $13,000 per day, or $4,670,000 per year
These are examples of my work in branding and post design.
