Netflix

From January 2021 through April 2022, I served as the Writers’ Assistant and later Script Coordinator for the still-in-development Untitled Alex Hirsch Project at Netflix Animation. Through working on such an unusually ambitious animated program, I gained exclusive, first-hand knowledge on how to successfully run and balance a writer’s room filled with talented writers of different expertise and experience levels - especially considering the wide leeway that the animation medium affords writers during the brainstorming and scripting process.

This was a production that generated numerous redundant and alternate scripts on the path towards finalizing its story, so I was tasked with detailed note-taking and becoming an encyclopedia not just for the stories and scripts the writers came up with, but also for all of the alternate, explorative stories along the way. It was almost like juggling three shows in one.

In the writer’s room, I was also afforded the privilege of not only being able to pitch ideas and takes in the writer’s room, but having my ideas taken seriously, and in some instances, incorporated into stories the room was creating. In the words of the entire writing staff and Alex himself, I was the single best WA/SC any of them had ever worked with, on any project.
